Tennessee Vols guard Dalton Knecht received some love from an NBA superstar on Saturday after scoring 36 points in UT's 85-79 win against the Georgia Bulldogs.
Knecht's big game caught the eye of former NBA MVP Kevin Durant, who commented that the Tennessee guard is a "dog" on a Tennessee basketball Instagram post.
Durant has a unique connection to Tennessee basketball — he played for Rick Barnes at Texas in 2006-07.
Barnes actually referenced Durant after the game on Saturday when he was asked about Knecht's dominance on the road this season (31.3 points per game in road games).
“Well, I did have Kevin Durant, so I saw it a bunch," said Barnes in reference to Knecht's road dominance.
“Mindset. It's a mindset where, you know, short memory. Not afraid of the moment, willing to go make the big play and if they don't, they've got a great ability to bounce back," added Barnes when asked what makes Durant and Knecht so great on the road.
Earlier this month, Durant praised Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleava after his performance against Iowa in the Citrus Bowl.
