Former Tennessee Vols running back Jaylen Wright, a fourth round selection by the Miami Dolphins in the 2024 NFL Draft, told reporters this week that he's trying to get the confidence back that he had in college.

Wright has 16 carries for 53 yards for the Dolphins so far this season.

The former Vol found some of that confidence this past week in Miami's loss to the Tennessee Titans thanks in part to Dolphins superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Hill was seen "ranting" on the sideline during Miami's loss to the Titans. And he said part of that rant was because he was fired up about a 20 yard run from Wright.

"He had a great run there toward the end of the game," said Hill. "I was like, ‘I need more of that. I need more of that 25'… Dude was balling and he was the spark for the offense.”

Wright said that it meant a lot to hear that from Hill.

"Just having a guy like that, say something like that, gives me confidence and motivation," said Wright. "I'm just grateful to be able to show my talent on the field. It means a lot, you know, from a guy like him."

It's still extremely early in Wright's career. And he's not in a great situation at the moment (the Dolphins' offense has stalled in recent weeks with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa sidelined due to a concussion). Wright proved during his time in Knoxville that he's a capable runner who can thrive in the face of adversity. It's only a matter of time before he finds his groove in the NFL and takes off.
