Tennessee Vols running back Jaylen Wright announced last month that he's skipping his senior season to enter the 2024 NFL Draft.

Wright had a breakout season for the Vols in 2023, rushing for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 7.3 yards per carry.

Dane Brugler, an NFL draft analyst for The Athletic, compared Wright this week to former Alabama/Cincinnati running back Jerome Ford.

"Jaylen Wright reminds me a lot of Jerome Ford when he was coming out of Cincinnati," wrote Brugler in a tweet. "Runs strong and balanced. Above average speed. Wright will be a really nice addition to an NFL backfield."

Ford was a fifth round selection by the Cleveland Browns in the 2022 NFL Draft after rushing for 1,319 yards in his final season at Cincinnati.

The Florida native only rushed for 12 yards as a rookie, but he experienced a breakout season in 2023 when he received a chance to start due to Nick Chubb's season-ending injury. Ford rushed for 813 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 44 receptions for 319 yards and five touchdowns, this past season for the Browns.

Wright will likely have to take a similar path to playing time in the NFL as he's currently projected as a mid-round selection.
