Early bowl game predictions are rolling in for the 2025 season and 247Sports' bowl game prediction for the Tennessee Vols has the UT football program facing some familiar faces at the end of the season.

Tennessee has never played in the Duke's Mayo Bowl before. And they haven't played against Florida State since the 1998 National Championship game (Fiesta Bowl).
From 247Sports: From the College Football Playoff to Charlotte — that's what happens when you part ways with starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava after spring practice following a contract dispute. Elite aspirations haven't changed for the Vols, but the schedule might be too difficult to overcome with transfer Joey Aguilar only having fall camp to perfect the playbook. Florida State somewhat rebounds from last year's faceplant.
Florida State has several former Tennessee players currently on the roster. Linebacker Elijah Herring, wide receiver Squirel White, and defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins are all former Vols who joined the Seminoles this offseason (Herring spent the 2024 season at Memphis after starting his career at Tennessee).
Tennessee obviously has their sights set higher than the Duke's Mayo Bowl, but there's a lot of unknowns when it comes to the UT football program entering the 2025 season. How will the quarterbacks perform without Nico Iamaleava? Can the Vols' young wide receivers take a big step forward? Can the defense replicate its dominant performance from last season?
Until those questions are answered — which probably won't be until the midpoint of the season (at the earliest) — we'll likely see a lot of lackluster bowl game predictions for Tennessee in 2025.
