Elite 4-star defensive recruit from Georgia plans to visit the Tennessee Vols
The Tennessee Vols are in the thick of the race for a 2027 four-star defensive recruit.
The Tennessee Vols are very much in the mix for a 2027 four-star defensive back from Georgia.
2027 four-star safety KJ Caldwell told On3 this week that he plans to take an official visit to Tennessee before announcing his commitment later this spring. He also plans to take official visits to Miami and Georgia (other visits could be added to his itinerary).
“I’m not really looking to cut my list down to be honest,” said Caldwell to On3. “I’m thinking more likely I’ll take my trips to some of my favorites and then commit. So right now, I’m looking at visits and where I want to go.”
Caldwell, 6-foot/176 pounds from Lilburn, GA, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 5 safety in the nation and the No. 8 player in the state of Georgia. He’s also rated as the No. 75 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.
According to 247Sports, one of the reasons Tennessee is at the top of his recruitment is because of the game day atmosphere he experienced when visiting UT this past season.
Tennessee has a real shot to land Caldwell, but the Vols will need to nail his official visit to win this battle over the surging Hurricanes or the hometown Bulldogs.
