ESPN made some predictions this week for some of the nation's top uncommitted recruits and they have the Tennessee Vols landing a key five-star offensive lineman.
Tom VanHaaren, a reporter for ESPN who covers college football recruiting, predicted on Wednesday that Tennessee will secure a commitment from five-star offensive tackle Jordan Seaton.
Seaton, 6-foot-5/287 lbs from Washington DC, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 1 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 15 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.
While VanHaaren is predicting that Seaton will commit to Tennessee, he acknowledged that this recruiting battle could still go "a number of ways".
From ESPN: He just took a visit to Tennessee, which could impact his decision, but Alabama, Oregon and Ohio State are also in the picture. We're going to predict Tennessee based on the buzz around the Vols and Seaton, but this one could go a number of ways.
Seaton, who was in Knoxville this past weekend for a visit, is the type of player the Vols have to land if they're going to close the gap with Georgia. Tennessee can't keep losing these battles and expect to give Georgia a fight. Of course, there's no magic button that UT can push to guarantee that they land Seaton. Tennessee's staff can do everything right and still not land the talented offensive lineman. That's just how it goes sometimes when you're a program that has never reached the College Football Playoff while battling programs that have made it.
Fortunately, it sounds like the Vols are very much in the mix here. But they have to find a way to close the deal over the next couple of weeks.
