The Tennessee Vols could be losing an experienced wide receiver.

According to a report from On3's Pete Nakos, Vols junior wide receiver Squirrel White is planning to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

White is a former three-star recruit from Pinson, AL who signed with the Vols during the 2022 recruiting cycle.

In three seasons at Tennessee, White has totaled 131 receptions for 1,665 yards, and six touchdowns.

White's best season came as a sophomore in 2023 when he caught 67 passes for 803 yards and two touchdowns.

The Alabama native played in all 13 games for the Vols in 2024, but he was banged up for much of the season, which significantly impacted his production.

If White enters the transfer portal, he could still decide to return to Tennessee (when it comes to the portal and NIL deals, anything is essentially on the table).

Tennessee is already losing wide receiver Dont'e Thornton to the NFL. Additionally, several Vols backup wide receivers have already entered the portal. Losing White would be another big hit to Tennessee's wide receiver depth and overall talent.

If White doesn't return in 2025, it should open the door for Braylon Staley, a true freshman in 2024, to see more playing time in the slot. Staley is a former four-star recruit who is viewed as having a higher ceiling than White.
