One of the most highly coveted college football recruits ever is finally set to commit this weekend and the Tennessee Vols look like they're likely going to land him. Five star offensive tackle recruit David Sanders Jr., the number one offensive line prospect and second highest rated player in the entire 2025 class, will be announcing his commitment decision Saturday, August 17th.

All the top experts are beginning to agree. The Vols' strong recruiting class helmed by top tier quarterback George MacIntyre, Josh Heupel's offensive scheme, and the longstanding dedication to the pursuit of Sanders Jr. from Tennessee looks promising. Top recruitments involving 40+ FBS scholarship offers are never a "lock", but Tennessee seems to be in a good spot according to On3's Steve Wiltfong and more.

Sanders Jr. has been vehemently pursued by both Ohio State and Georgia down the stretch here, with rumors of massive NIL deals being offered his way. The Vols, Buckeyes, and Bulldogs all three just missed out on top offensive line recruit Josh Petty as he committed to Georgia Tech this week. All three big brands will be looking to make up for it by going all-in on Sanders now. However, as of today, it seems the Vols have the (near) final edge.

Sanders technically has Nebraska in the mix as well on his official commitment announcement graphic, but besides some buzz about Nebraska's collective going wild with a huge bag, there's not much real information to suggest he's going to land with the Huskers.

If Sanders does land with the Vols he'll likely immediately slot in at starting offensive tackle opposite five star transfer (via LSU) Lance Heard when he gets to campus in 2025. That tandem of Heard and Sanders would give the Vols potentially the best pair of starting tackles in the nation. Sanders would also be the highest rated recruit that Josh Heupel has brought in since joining Tennessee as head coach. The Vols already rank well inside the Top 10 recruiting classes for 2025, but acquiring David Sanders would seal the deal on a truly elite class for Tennessee.
