The San Francisco 49ers placed a high value on former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings on Monday.

San Francisco tendered Jennings, a seventh round pick by the 49ers in 2020, a one year on contract on Monday afternoon.

According to The Athletic's David Lombardi, the tender is a second round tender, which costs $4.89 million.

The tender doesn't guarantee that Jennings will be back in San Francisco next season. He can still negotiate with other teams. But any team that signs Jennings would owe the 49ers a second round pick. And while Jennings is absolutely worth a second round pick because of what he brings to the field, it's very unlikely any team will surrender a second round pick so they can sign him.

Jennings has become a key player for the 49ers over the last couple of seasons. He's a tenacious blocker who plays with great effort and has earned the respect of his teammates, including star running back Christian McCaffrey and linebacker Fred Warner

The former Vol became a bit of a national sensation during Super Bowl LVIII after he passed for a touchdown and caught a touchdown in the 49ers' loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
