The Georgia Bulldogs are expecting a loud and raucous crowd on Saturday afternoon when they visit Neyland Stadium for a matchup against the Tennessee Vols.
“Loud affects your offense,” said Georgia head coach Kirby Smart on Tuesday. “It affects your ability to communicate. You know, the communication goes down the line a lot of times, and you’ve got to talk all the way out, and there’s communication between parts of the offense that have to happen, and loud most certainly affects that.
“Neyland’s one of the loudest. We played in some loud places last year, and it affected communication. So you have to be smart.”
Georgia offensive lineman warns freshmen teammates about how loud Neyland Stadium can be
Bulldogs junior offensive lineman Monroe Freeling met with reporters on Tuesday, and he noted that he’s been telling his younger teammates they need to prepare for how loud Neyland Stadium can get.
“I remember that very first play (in the 2023 game between UT and UGA),” said Freeling when asked about his previous experience in Neyland Stadium. “They scored the touchdown, it’s the loudest I’ve ever heard any other stadium.
“I’m telling these freshmen right now, and anyone that hasn’t been there, it’s a really loud stadium. You better get ready.”
The Jaylen Wright touchdown to start the game in 2023 that Freeling referenced was an insane moment in Neyland Stadium. The Vols will need that same energy on Saturday (for the entire game) for Tennessee to have a chance at getting a win against Georgia.
