The Tennessee Vols are set to kick off the 2023 season on September 2 against the Virginia Cavaliers in Nashville

Tennessee's game against Virginia is the first of five games that the Vols will play in the month of September, which means UT's regular season will be nearly half over by the time the calendar flips to October.

That's a bit unsettling, but college football is the one sport that constantly leaves you wanting more.

Late last week, 247Sports predicted how each SEC team's record will look after September.

And they're feeling pretty good about Tennessee football.

247Sports has the Vols going 5-0 in September, which means they have Tennessee winning a huge matchup in the Swamp against Florida. They also have the Vols taking down South Carolina in Neyland Stadium.

Tennessee also plays Austin Peay and UTSA (and UTSA is no pushover) in September.

From 247Sports: Tennessee fans are mindful of that Week 3 battle in Gainesville. They know the history there. It doesn't matter that the Gators have been picked to finish at the bottom of the East standings with Vanderbilt — it's still Florida and the Swamp. UTSA is a borderline top 25 in a potentially sneaky home game sandwiched between rivalry tilts. There might not be a game Tennessee wants more this fall than South Carolina given how the Gamecocks derailed this program's impressive surge in 2022.

The game against Florida is possibly the most important game on Tennessee's schedule.

They're all important, but if the Vols can get a win in Gainesville for the first time since 2003, it could serve as a jumpstart to a championship season for Tennessee.

Who knows how the season will play out. But if the Vols go 5-0 in September, they'll quickly be viewed nationally as one of very few teams this season that could win it all.
