If you only paid attention to social media, you might think the Tennessee Vols are in the midst of another letdown season, the type that UT fans have been accustomed to at various times over the last 15 years.

But Tennessee is actually off to one of their best starts in the last 15 years. The Vols are 6-2 as they enter the final month of the season. And while there's definitely been some disappointing losses, Tennessee actually still has a chance to win the SEC East.

ESPN puts their odds of winning the SEC East at 8 percent, which is behind Georgia (81 percent), and Missouri (11 percent).

While those odds aren't ideal, they mean that Tennessee still has a chance to achieve their goal of reaching Atlanta, though they'll need some help.

Thanks to the Vols' loss to Alabama earlier this month, Tennessee needs Georgia to lose a game before their showdown in Neyland Stadium with the Bulldogs on November 18.

Georgia has two SEC games left before that big game against the Vols and both of those games are in Athens.

The Bulldogs play Missouri this upcoming weekend and then they'll face Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels on November 11.

(Georgia's final game of the season is a non-conference game against Georgia Tech.)

Tennessee needs the Bulldogs to lose to either Missouri or Ole Miss to have a chance to win the SEC East. And then the Vols, of course, have to win out, which includes beating Missouri on the road on November 11 and then the game against Georgia on November 18 (the Vols finish with a home game against Vanderbilt on November 25).

Missouri currently has just one SEC loss, so they could still lose to Tennessee and win the SEC East if the Tigers beat Georgia and if the Bulldogs lose to Ole Miss and Tennessee. It's an unlikely scenario, but it's still in play. Mizzou also has SEC games remaining against Florida and Arkansas.

The most likely scenario is that Georgia win its third straight SEC East division title. But there's still some hope for Vols fans that Tennessee can win the SEC East in its final year of existence.
