Former Alabama QB disrespects what Tennessee Vols WR Chris Brazzell has accomplished so far in 2025

Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Greg McElroy attempted to compliment Tennessee Vols wide receiver Chris Brazzell on Tuesday.
But instead, McElroy, who is the co-host of McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning, ended up being dismissive of what Brazzell has accomplished so far this season.
McElroy and co-host Cole Cubelic discussed the best players at each position in the SEC on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning on Tuesday. After tossing out a couple of names at the wide receiver position, McElroy mentioned Brazzell before suggesting that the Tennessee wide receiver has only had the “one huge game” this season (against the Georgia Bulldogs).
“The guy that’s been the best in the first five weeks is Mario Craver at [Texas] A&M,” said McElroy.
“The other guy that deserves some conversation, and I know it might be just a smaller sample size because it was kind of one huge game, is Chris Brazzell.”
Greg McElroy needs to check Chris Brazzell’s stats
Brazzell definitely had his best game of the season in Tennessee’s overtime loss to Georgia. The former Tulane standout caught six passes for 177 yards and three touchdowns against the Bulldogs.
But that hasn’t been Brazzell’s only big game this season.
Brazzell, who has 31 receptions for 531 yards and seven touchdowns through five games this season, also went over 100 receiving yards against East Tennessee State and Mississippi State.
Against Mississippi State, Brazzell caught six passes for 105 yards and one touchdown.
Craver, meanwhile, caught six passes for 80 yards and zero touchdowns against Mississippi State (Craver has 30 receptions for 557 yards and four touchdowns this season).
The Texas A&M standout also caught just 4 passes for 34 yards against Auburn.
Craver has been great this season, but so has Brazzell. And if McElroy wants to talk about “one huge game”, he should probably point out that 37 percent of Craver’s yards came in his best game (207 yards against Notre Dame), while 33 percent of Brazzell’s receiving yards came in his best game (177 yards against Georgia).
Maybe check the numbers next time, Greg.
