Los Angeles Rams edge rusher Byron Young, a former Tennessee Vols standout, had a monster game in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans.

Young, who played at Tennessee from 2021 to 2022, totaled five tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumbled in the Rams’ 33-19 win against the Titans.

Part of the reason Young had a big game on Sunday was that he was looking to avenge the Volunteers’ loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs beat the Vols 44-41 in overtime the day before the Rams played the Titans.

On Wednesday, the Rams posted a Mic’d up video of Young, and it was clear that Tennessee’s loss to Georgia was on his mind.

“They gotta pay for what happened to Tennessee yesterday,” said Young in the video. “They gotta pay for this.”

“Somebody gotta pay for what the f— happened to Tennessee yesterday. No, I told you — somebody’s gotta pay for what happened to Tennessee.”

Young had one of the best defensive performances of the week while taking out his frustration on the Titans.

Rams head coach Sean McVay likes what he’s seeing from Byron Young

Young’s big game against the Titans wasn’t a one-off performance.

The former Vol was also terrific in the Rams’ season-opening win against the Houston Texans, totaling nine tackles and a sack.

“A lot of it you felt live,” said Rams head coach Sean McVay this week when asked about Young’s showing against the Titans. “I think the relentless pursuit, the energy, the ability to be able to make a bunch of different plays in both phases. You guys have heard me talk about it. I think there are certain guys on game day, you feel them. I felt him all day. I felt the way that he was able to pursue, to force the ball out of [Titans QB Cam] Ward’s hands a couple times when he was scrambling, his ability to relentlessly play through the echo of the whistle — which was reflected on his sack fumble, his production in the run game to be able to win on some two-man games. I thought he was excellent and the film just confirmed that.”

Young and the Rams will be back in action on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fortunately for Philly, the Vols play UAB on Saturday, so Young shouldn’t have a Tennessee loss that he’s looking to avenge.
