Former Tennessee Vols offensive coordinator Larry Scott will be the new head coach at Howard, according to various reports.

Scott was on Butch Jones' staff from 2016-2017 at Tennessee. He served as the Vols' tight ends coach in 2016, before being promoted to offensive coordinator in 2017.

The former Miami Hurricanes interim head coach landed on Dan Mullen's staff at Florida in 2018 as the Gators' tight ends coach.

Ironically, Scott's departure from Florida actually helps the Vols.

Scott was serving as the lead recruiter for one of Tennessee's top remaining targets — 2020 four-star athlete Dee Beckwith.

I already thought the Vols had the edge for Beckwith, so this should only help their efforts.

Beckwith will make his decision Wednesday.
