A former Tennessee Vols commit entered the transfer portal this week just over a month after signing with a Big 12 program.

2026 four-star athlete Salesi Moa was committed to Tennessee from late July to early December. He flipped from Tennessee to Utah during the early signing period.

Moa enrolled at Utah earlier this month, but he won’t be playing for the Utes in 2026.

The 6-foot-1 athlete is entering the transfer portal despite signing with Utah last month.

Salesi Moa comments on entering the transfer portal

Moa, who is from Utah (his dad played for the Utes), told On3 this week that playing on the “biggest stage out there” is part of his motivation for entering the portal.”

“I just feel like this is what God wants me to do,” said Moa. “I can’t really explain it but I feel like God wants me to play on the biggest stage out there.”

When Moa decommitted from Tennessee in December, he told On3 it was because he wanted build his legacy at home.

“I’m staying home,” said Moa to On3. “In the end, I felt like Utah was the place where I could build my legacy. I want to be legendary and I want my name cemented in the history of Utah football. This is my home, and this is where I’m writing my story.”

So what’s next for Moa?

Vols fans would undoubtedly love to see the talented athlete in orange and white, but most feel he’s heading to Michigan.

Kyle Whittingham, the former Utah head coach who flipped Moa from the Vols, is the new head coach at Michigan. It would make sense for Moa to follow Whittingham — and other former Utah assistant coaches — to Ann Arbor (Moa visited Michigan in late November).

Several insiders have already predicted that Moa will land with Michigan.

Transfer decisions can change at a moment’s notice, but it seems likely that Moa will be transferring to Michigan. The Vols, though, certainly built a great relationship with Moa during the recruiting process. If he waivers on Michigan, it’ll be worth keeping an eye on Tennessee.
