Former Vols defensive lineman LaTroy Lewis has reportedly been hired by the Atlanta Falcons as an assistant defensive line coach.

Lewis, who played at Tennessee from 2012 to 2016, spent parts of two seasons in the NFL as a player, splitting time with the Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans, and Tennessee Titans from 2017 to 2018. He also played for the XFL’s Houston Roughnecks in 2020.

The Ohio native totaled 77 tackles and 4.5 sacks during his time with the Vols.

LaTroy Lewis was previously named as the new defensive line coach at UConn

Lewis was named as the new defensive line coach at UConn in early January.

The former Vol made the transition to coaching in 2020 when he joined Akron’s staff as a graduate assistant.

Lewis has also served as a graduate assistant at South Alabama, a special teams analyst at Wake Forest, and a graduate assistant at Michigan (for three seasons). His first on-field coaching role came at Toledo this past season when he served as the program’s defensive line coach.
