Los Angeles Rams pass rusher Byron Young, a former Tennessee Vols standout, was at the center of controversy on Thursday night during the LA's 30-20 win against the Minnesota Vikings.

Late in the game, Young sacked Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold in the end zone for a safety, which sealed the win for the Rams.

Young actually pulled Darnold to the ground via the quarterback's facemask. A 15-yard penalty, which would've resulted in an automatic first down, should've been called. Instead, the officials swallowed their whistles, robbing the Vikings of a chance to tie the game.

Young put his hands on his head immediately after the play, as if he knew a flag was coming (which made it an even worse look for the officials).

After the game, Young took to Twitter/X.com to offer an "explanation" for why he put his hands on his head.

"It was just so loud in there had to cover up my ears ya know," tweeted Young.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Young was a little of both on Thursday night.
