Former Tennessee Vols player enters transfer portal just one year after leaving Knoxville
A former Tennessee defender is looking for his third team.
Former Tennessee defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins decided to leave Knoxville roughly a year ago. Now, the ex-Vol is apparently on the move again.
According to ESPN college football insider Pete Thamel, Jenkins is entering the transfer portal and leaving Florida State after one season in Tallahassee.
Former Tennessee DL Jayson Jenkins is entering the transfer portal and leaving Florida State
Jenkins was one of two Volunteers to leave after the 2024 season for the Seminoles. WR Squirrel White also entered the transfer portal and ended up going to Florida State, as he was part of the mass exodus of wide receivers to leave the team after the 2024 season.
It goes without saying that the move didn’t end up working out for either of them. White totaled just five catches for 52 yards all season for the Seminoles, who posted a second straight losing season with a 5-7 record. 40 of those yards came on one catch in the first half of FSU’s shocking 31-17 win over Alabama in Week 1.
Jenkins, who played for Tennessee from 2022 to 2024, appeared in all 12 games for FSU this season. He totaled 17 tackles with one and a half tackles for loss and a sack. While the circumstances for some players leaving aren’t always known, Jenkins could have been useful for Tennessee this year, given their depth and injury issues at the position during the season.
In any event, we’ll see where Jenkins ends up for his final year of eligibility. But that very likely won’t be back in Knoxville.
