Former Tennessee standout Grant Williams gives reaction to Hornets teammate LaMelo Ball’s accident in Charlotte
Charlotte Hornets star guard LaMelo Ball was involved in an accident in Uptown Charlotte this week.
Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams, a former Tennessee Vols standout, has seen extended action over the last couple of games due to the suspensions of teammates Miles Bridges and Moussa Diabaté.
Williams has averaged 28.6 minutes over his last three games. On Thursday night, Williams scored 20 points in the Hornets’ 105-101 loss to the Houston Rockets.
The former Vol will return to a reserve role when Bridges and Diabaté return, but Williams is certainly making the most of his opportunity while they’re out.
Grant Williams reacts to LaMelo Ball’s accident in Charlotte
Earlier this week, Hornets guard LaMelo Ball was involved in an accident after leaving practice.
Ball was captured on video swerving into another vehicle in Uptown Charlotte.
Fortunately, everyone was ok.
Williams, who grew up in Charlotte, was asked for his thoughts on Ball’s accident after the loss to Houston.
The former Vol was also asked if, as a veteran leader, he shared any messages with Ball.
“I’m just so thankful he’s ok, number one thing,” said Williams. “I don’t know all the details of the situation, so it’s hard for me to speak on it. But I’m just thankful that both him and the other party are healthy and safe, that’s the number one thing for me. I don’t think I had to have any conversations with him, because I think we’re so focused on today. But I didn’t have much background information on it, so it’s hard for me to speak on the actual incident.”
Williams and the Hornets will be back in action on Friday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Bridges and Diabaté are suspended for two more games, which means Williams should continue to see significant action for the Hornets over the next two games (against Cleveland and the Washington Wizards).
Update:
Williams has been ruled out for Friday’s game against the Cavaliers.
