Former Tennessee Vols offensive coordinator Alex Golesh, who is currently the head coach at USF, is reportedly receiving interest from multiple SEC programs that are in need of a new head coach.

Golesh, though, is pretty much in a holding pattern right now due to LSU, Florida, and Ole Miss waiting on a decision from Lane Kiffin (the fallout from Kiffin’s decision will impact the way the rest of the coaching cycle plays out).

Earlier this week, Golesh denied a report that he’s already interviewed for the Oklahoma State job.

Multiple SEC programs are reportedly interested in hiring former Tennessee Vols offensive coordinator Alex Golesh

According to The Athletic’s Chris Vannini, Golesh is receiving interest from the Auburn Tigers and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Vannini also noted that Golesh is still one of the “strongest candidates” at Oklahoma State, along with North Texas head coach Eric Morris, Texas A&M offensive coordinator Collin Klein, and Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack.

It’s possible that Golesh declines to take a new job and stays at USF instead. After all, he seems very happy in Tampa. But if an SEC program like Auburn or Arkansas comes calling, it could be tough for Golesh to say no.

We’ll see what Golesh decides to do in the coming days/weeks. Maybe he bets on himself and sticks around at USF in anticipation of a better job opportunity coming along in the future.

The coaching carousel dominoes will likely start to fall quickly once Kiffin makes his decision (which could be at any moment).
