A former Tennessee Vols player is reportedly the leading candidate to become the Tennessee Titans' new general manager.

According a report from The Athletic's Dianna Russini, former Vols linebacker Reggie McKenzie is considered (by Russini) to be the lead candidate to replace Ran Carthon as the Titans' general manager.

McKenzie, who played at Tennessee from 1981 to 1984, served as the Oakland Raiders' general manager from 2012 to 2018. He's currently a Miami Dolphins senior personnel executive.

McKenzie started his executive career in 1994 as a pro personnel assistant with the Green Bay Packers.

After moving up the ladder in Green Bay over the course of 17 years, McKenzie was named as the general manager of the Oakland Raiders in 2012.

The Titans are looking for a general manager that will work under president of football operations Chad Brinker.

According to Brinker, the franchise wants a general manager who is "a top-flight, top-level evaluator who has spent the majority of their career projecting college players to the National Football League".

Brinker and McKenzie worked together in Green Bay for three seasons (2009 to 2011). At the time, Brinker was a scouting assistant and McKenzie was the director of football operations.

Additionally, Titans head coach Brian Callahan was the Raiders' quarterbacks coach in 2018, McKenzie's final season as Oakland's general manager.
