Former Tennessee Vols offensive lineman Wanya Morris had a message for former UT head coach Jeremy Pruitt on Saturday.
Morris, a former five-star recruit who spent his first two seasons at Tennessee before transferring to Oklahoma, announced via social media that he's declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.
In his message, Morris specifically thanked Pruitt.
"Thank you to (Oklahoma) Coach (Brent) Venables and his staff for helping me get to this point, but mostly thank you to Coach Pruitt and Tennessee for giving me the chance to get this far," wrote Morris. "These past 4 years haven't been easy at all, but every one of you have helped me mature into a better man, player, and teammate. l am very thankful that you all decided."
Morris signed with Tennessee during the 2019 recruiting cycle as a five-star recruit out of Loganville, GA. He was rated as the No. 6 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 28 overall player in the nation.
The Georgia native transferred from UT after Pruitt was fired by Tennessee in the midst of an NCAA recruiting investigation.
Morris played in 22 games for the Vols during his two seasons in Knoxville. He started 19 of those games, including 12 as a true freshman.
Former Vols running back Eric Gray, who signed with Tennessee in 2019 and transferred to Oklahoma with Morris, also announced his intentions on Saturday to declare for the 2023 NFL Draft.
Gray annoucned his draft decision via a Tweet with the caption "Sooner and Vol for life".
