Former Tennessee Vols running back Cam Seldon, who left the UT program via the NCAA transfer portal earlier this offseason, could be in line to start at his new program, Virginia Tech, based on intel from spring practice.

Seldon, who is moving to wide receiver at Virginia Tech, has reportedly been taking first team reps with the Hokies during spring practice.

Now, it's only spring practice, and plenty can change between now and the start of the 2025 season, but it's notable that Seldon is already receiving first team reps after moving to wide receiver.

The Virginia native, who spent two seasons at Tennessee before transferring, was rated by 247Spots as the No. 77 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class, so he certainly has the pedigree to be a dynamic player in the ACC.

Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry was extremely complimentary of Seldon late last month when asked about the former Vol.

"I've been pleasantly surprised," said Pry when asked about Seldon in late March. "He catches the ball more naturally than I anticipated. He's got really good speed. He's got a great build. He's got really good work ethic. To this point, with four practices in the winter program, he's everything that I hoped he'd be."

Pry also suggested that Seldon could be used in a hybrid wide receiver/running back role, a la former South Carolina standout Deebo Samuel.

"I think he's got the ability to do that (a Deebo Samuel role)," said Pry. "Are we able to do that with our offense and with the personnel we have? We'll see. But based on his running back background, he's good with the ball in his hands after the catch."

Oddly enough, Virginia Tech opens the 2025 season against South Carolina on August 31.
