A former Tennessee Vols quarterback is planning to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter plans to enter the portal according to a report from 247Sports on Tuesday.

Salter signed with the Vols during the 2021 recruiting cycle — before Jeremy Pruitt was fired as the program's head coach.

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel kicked Salter off the team before the 2022 season after the Texas native was involved in two separate incidents involving drugs. The second incident occurred just after Salter had been reinstated to the team.

Salter transferred to Liberty where he's spent the last three seasons. In 2023, Salter had a breakout season, totaling 2,876 passing yards and 32 touchdowns against just six interceptions. He also rushed for 1,089 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns.

The former Vol will have two years of eligibility remaining.
