A former Tennessee Vols quarterback could be on the verge of landing with his sixth NFL team.
According a report from the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the New York Jets worked out former Volunteers quarterback Nathan Peterman this week.
The Jets are in need of an additional quarterback due to an injury to backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor (Taylor is week to week after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery).
Peterman played at Tennessee from 2012 to 2014 before transferring to Pittsburgh for the final two seasons of his collegiate career.
The former Vol was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Peterman has also played for the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, and Atlanta Falcons.
The Florida native has passed for 712 yards, four touchdowns and 13 interceptions in his NFL career. He’s also rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown.
Peterman passed for 94 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions during his two seasons with the Vols. His lone touchdown was a rushing score in a 2014 win against Chattanooga.
