Former Tennessee Vols running back Alvin Kamara just wrapped up his ninth season in the NFL.

Kamara, who played at Tennessee in 2015 and 2016, was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The former Vol has spent his entire his NFL career with the Saints.

Kamara, who will turn 31 in July, went to five straight Pro Bowls from 2017 to 2021.

Alvin Kamara could be facing some bad news this offseason

Kamara had the least productive season of his career in 2025, totaling a career-low 657 yards from scrimmage while scoring just one touchdown.

The Georgia native has one season remaining on his contract, but Pro Football Focus believes he could be a cut candidate for the Saints this offseason.

“Kamara’s 51.7 PFF grade was dead last among 59 running backs in 2025, and by far the lowest of his career,” wrote PFF’s Thomas Valentine. “His production has dropped off in recent seasons. If the Saints want to get younger and save $8.5 million, they could designate Kamara as a post-June 1 cut. This would be the avenue to take.”

There were rumblings last season that New Orleans was considering trading Kamara.

Kamara, though, suggested he’d retire before accepting a trade to another team.

“I don’t want to go anywhere, and l’ve said it countless times,” said Kamara. “Y’all know that, I think everybody knows that, the fan base knows that. At the end of the day, it’s business. I don’t go upstairs, I don’t have an office upstairs…so I don’t really sit in those meetings, I don’t know what happens up there. I’ve just got to keep my head down.

“If I was a GM, I guess I would go to the player and say, ‘Hey, we’re trading you, just so you know. So if Mickey comes down and says that, I’m going to go drink a piña colada somewhere.”

If the Saints choose to move on from Kamara this offseason, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the former Tennessee standout calls it a career.
