Former Tennessee Vols pass rusher Byron Young, who is in his second season with the Los Angeles Rams, was involved in a controversial play during Thursday Night Football.
Late in the fourth quarter, with the Rams holding on to an eight point lead against the Minnesota Vikings, Young sacked quarterback Sam Darnold in the end zone for a safety.
The safety resulted in a 10 point lead in a game that Los Angeles would win 30-20.
There's no doubt that a penalty should've been called on Young. And while we don't know what the outcome of the drive would've been, it's reasonable to suggest that the missed call impacted the outcome of the game. If that penalty is called, the Vikings get an automatic first down with the ball at the 20 yard line and plenty of time left on the clock.
Young, who has seen his NFL career get off to a great start with the Rams, reacted like he knew a flag was coming.
Ultimately, it goes down as a win for the Rams. And Young, despite committing a penalty that wasn't called, had no problems celebrating the win on Thursday night.
