Former Tennessee Vols basketball star Dalton Knecht is going viral this week for an incredible gesture that made a young fan's dream come true.

Knecht, who is in his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers, was scheduled to play against the San Antonio Spurs on January 11, but the game was postponed due to the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area.

A family from Tennessee flew out to Los Angeles for a "once in a life time trip" so their son could see Knecht play. Due to the timing of the trip, they were unable to make plans to catch the makeup date.

Knecht heard about the family's situation and his agent got in touch with the family to meet up while they were still in Los Angeles. According to the Facebook post, Knecht spent around 45 minutes with the family and even gave the young fan pair of game-worn shoes.

How can you not smile after hearing that story? It was a simple gesture from Knecht, but he probably has no idea just how big of an impact it made on that young fan (and on the parents…as a fellow parent, I can only imagine the stress of setting up a trip like that only for the game to be postponed).

Kudos Dalton Knecht. It doesn't get much better than that.
