Former Tennessee Vols star running back Alvin Kamara will likely be suspended when the 2022 NFL season gets underway.
Kamara is reportedly facing a six-game suspension, according to Pro Football Talk.
The potential suspension is related to Kamara's role in an incident that happened in Las Vegas during the NFL's Pro-Bowl weekend. Kamara is facing felony battery charges. The next hearing is set for August, which means the NFL likely won't decide on any discipline for Kamara until at least then.
From PFT:
Per a league source, Saints running back Alvin Kamara is bracing for a suspension of at least six weeks. The only question is when the suspension will be imposed.
The Personal Conduct Policy provides for a baseline six-game suspension in the event of felony battery. Aggravating factors include repeated striking. Kamara reportedly told police that he threw a “couple punches.”
Kamara possibly could be placed on paid leave pending resolution of the criminal case, given that he faces a felony charge. He would still be subject to a potential unpaid suspension after the case is resolved.

Kamara appeared to respond to the report via Twitter on Thursday night.
It's unclear what the NFL will decide to do with the former Vol if the charges against Kamara are dropped. They could still choose to discipline Kamara in that scenario.
We'll just have to wait and see what happens after Kamara's hearing in August, but it certainly sounds like the New Orleans Saints could be without one of the best players in the league for a large portion of the season.
