On Monday, the New Orleans Saints officially signed former Tennessee wide receiver Velus Jones Jr to a one-year deal.
The Saints are signing Jones as a running back.
Jones will be reunited in New Orleans with former Vols cornerback Alontae Taylor.
The two former Vols played together at Tennessee in 2020 and 2021.
Taylor was selected by the Saints in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He's carved out a key role in the New Orleans defense over his first three seasons in the NFL.
Jones, meanwhile, was selected by the Bears in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The former Tennessee wide receiver struggled to earn a role in the Bears' offense before eventually getting released by Chicago during the 2024 season.
The Carolina Panthers eventually signed Jones off the Jacksonville Jaguars' practice squad. Jones played in two games with the Panthers last season.
Jones will join former Tennessee running back Alvin Kamara in the Saints' backfield.
