Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings landed a new contract with the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday.
Jennings, who had the second round restricted free agent tender placed on him earlier this offseason by the 49ers, agreed to a two-year deal with San Francisco worth up to $15.4 million with $10.5 million guaranteed.
The former Vol didn't initially report to 49ers OTAs this month (he never signed his second round tender which meant he couldn't participate), but he's present on Wednesday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, thanks to his new contract.
There was speculation that the 49ers were prepared to move on from Jennings after the 2024 season (Jennings was set to be a free agent after the 2024 season). The team's decision to draft Florida Gators wide receiver Ricky Pearsall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft added to the speculation.
Jennings' new deal, however, ensures that he'll be in the Bay Area for at least the next two seasons.
It's also a nice pay day for the former Vol. Jennings, who was a seventh round selection by the 49ers in the 2020 NFL Draft, earned just $2.6 million during the first four years of his NFL career.
