Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings came up 25 yards short of reaching 1,000 receiving yards for the season in the San Francisco 49ers' season finale on Sunday.
Jennings, who just wrapped up his fifth year with the 49ers, likely would've reached the milestone on Sunday had he not been ejected in the second quarter of San Francisco's loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
The former Vol was ejected following an incident with Cardinals defensive back Sean Murphy-Bunting.
"It's almost like they want me to be disappointed," said Jennings after the game when asked about the ejection. "So it's cool, I'll be disappointed."
"No explanation, nothing, no explantation or anything," continued Jennings. "Just you're out. Just like baseball, 1-2-3, strike, you're out….[I threw] no punches. All I did was pancake the guy. We're playing football, you know, laid him on his back, tried to get up and he wouldn't let me up. Next thing you know, they're looking at me like I'm the bad guy. So I can't get any explanation. I'm glad we have cameras out there today. No cameras and you can be falsely accused of anything these days. So I'm glad we got cameras out there."
"I knew I was in the right. I put my hopes into another human being making the right choice. Humans make mistakes."
Jennings also told reporters that he's already looking forward to OTAs and he plans to try to make another attempt to reach 1,000 receiving yards in 2025.
Former Vols QB Josh Dobbs makes it clear how he feels about Jauan Jennings getting ejected just 25 yards short of 1,000 yards
Unfortunate moment for Jauan Jennings
