A former Tennessee Vols assistant coach is expected to join Deion Sanders at Colorado, according to a report on Sunday from Football Scoop's John Brice.
According to Brice, former Vols safeties coach Charles Kelly, who is currently a co-defensive coordinator at Alabama, is expected to leave Tuscaloosa for a "top-level coordinator role" on Sanders' staff.
Kelly was Tennessee's safeties coach/special teams coordinator in 2018 during Jeremy Pruitt's first season as the Vols' head coach. He left after just one season to join Nick Saban's staff at Alabama.

Kelly and Sanders have never worked together, but as Brice pointed out, Kelly worked at Florida State for five seasons. Sanders, of course, played college football for the Seminoles.
One other interesting connection between Kelly and Sanders is that they played against each other twice in college.
Florida State and Auburn (where Kelly played college football) met during the regular season in 1987 and in the 1989 Sugar Bowl (1988 season).
The Seminoles won both matchups.
Coach Prime proved he's a legit head coach at Jackson State, now he'll look to prove that he can do it at a Power-5 program. Hiring an experienced defensive assistant like Kelly is a good start.
