Gilbert's most famous moment in college came in 2021 when he hit a walk-off grand slam to give Tennessee a win against Wright State in the NCAA Tournament.
Gilbert, who is currently playing in the New York Mets farm system, hit a home run on Thursday night for the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies that wasn't quite as dramatic as the home run against Wright State, but it was still extremely clutch.
With the Rumble Ponies trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the 7th inning (it was a double header so it was the final inning of the game), Gilbert launched a home run to right field to send the game to extra innings.
The home run, which came with two outs, was Gilbert's second of the game.
Binghamton couldn't hold on for the win — they gave up four runs in the top of the 8th to fall 9-5 — but Gilbert's clutch home run is a reminder that the former Tennessee centerfielder is at his best when the game is on the line.
