Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jimmy Holiday announced on Sunday that he's transferring to Western Kentucky.
Holiday, a former three-star recruit from Mississippi, entered the NCAA transfer portal on December 5. He originally signed with Tennessee during the 2020 recruiting cycle.
Former Vols offensive coordinator Tyson Helton is the head coach at Western Kentucky.
Helton, who was Jeremy Pruitt's offensive coordinator in 2018, left Knoxville before Holiday was first offered by Tennessee, so there wasn't much of a UT connection, if any, between the two.
Holiday entered the portal after catching six passes for 106 yards and one touchdown this past season.
Most of Holiday's action came in blowout wins against Ball State and UT-Martin.
Holiday is a talented player, but he was buried on Tennessee's depth chart and it was unlikely he was ever going to play a major role for the Vols. The decision to transfer was simply about finding playing time.
Western Kentucky finished 9-5 this past season. The Hilltoppers have won nine games in three of Helton's four seasons as the program's head coach.
