Fox Sports' Joel Klatt just gave Tennessee the ultimate bulletin board material for matchup against Georgia
The Tennessee Vols don't necessarily need any motivation to perform at a high level in 2023. Tennessee's goal of winning an SEC Championship and a College Football Playoff Championship is all the motivation the Vols should need this fall. Tennessee's goal of winning an SEC Championship and a College Football Playoff Championship is all the motivation the Vols should need this fall.
But like Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow said last year during the NFL playoffs, if something external can be used as motivation, why not utilize it?
Fox Sports commentator Joel Klatt gave Tennessee some perfect bulletin board material
Fox Sports college football commentator Joel Klatt made sure this week that Tennessee will have no shortage of bulletin board material for their late-season matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs.
Earlier this week, Klatt revealed his preseason top 25 and he has Tennessee at No. 12.
Some folks may think that ranking is a bit low, but that's probably around where the Vols will be in the preseason AP Top 25 (UT was No. 10 in the coaches poll that was released on Monday).
The bulletin board material from Klatt comes via his comments about Tennessee challenging Georgia in the SEC East.
"It's really tough to beat that team (Georgia)," said Klatt. "You've gotta have a dynamic NFL-style passing game — similar to what Ohio State has, similar to what Alabama has — in order to really threaten Georgia. That's why I just don't think Tennessee is a threat to Georgia in the SEC East."
"I just don't think they're going to compete for a College Football Playoff [spot]. This is not the same type of team or year that they had a year ago," added Klatt.
Tennessee hasn't been shy this offseason about their goal of competing for a national championship. They believe they can win every game on their schedule. So it might not be a bad idea to plaster Klatt's analysis around the facilities at Tennessee as a constant reminder of the doubt from the national media.
Georgia used outside noise as motivation last season (even though some of it was embellished by Kirby Smart) and it led to a championship parade. Tennessee would be wise to use this bulletin board material that was gifted to them by Klatt in the same manner. Perhaps it'll be just enough to carry the Vols to another memorable season.
Vols senior makes big statement about Tennessee’s offensive line ahead of regular season
One of the main concerns about the Tennessee Vols in 2023 centers around the offensive line. The Vols lost two extremely talented players from last year's squad in right tackle Darnell Wright and left guard Jerome Carvin (Wright was drafted in the first round by the Chicago Bears and Carvin signed as an undrafted free […]
