Tennessee Vols fans might recognize the name at the top of his list.
Hendon Hooker is definitely a solid choice as a sleeper Heisman contender. I don't see him as a frontrunner by any means. But with it being his second year in Josh Heupel's offense — plus wide receiver Cedric Tillman is returning — we could certainly see Hooker take a massive step forward in his play in 2022.
The Greensboro, NC native passed for 2,945 yards last year despite not starting the first two games of the season. If Hooker stays healthy and starts 13 games for the Vols in 2022, I think he could have an outside shot at 4,000 passing yards. If he runs for 700 or 800 yards as well (he rushed for 620 yards in 2021), then those would certainly be close to Heisman Trophy caliber numbers.
