On Monday, Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart said it wasn't looking good for edge rusher Nolan Smith's chances of playing against the Tennessee Vols on Saturday.

Smith, a potential top-10 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, leads Georgia in sacks and tackles for loss this season.

On Tuesday, Smart had his fears confirmed.

Multiple reports on Tuesday morning indicated that Smith will miss the rest of the season with a torn pec.

This is obviously a big blow to the Bulldogs' defense. Georgia has the best depth in the nation and they'll have guys ready to step up in Smith's absence, but Smith is a special talent that can't easily be replaced. The Bulldogs will certainly miss him against the Vols.

I don't know if Georgia not having Smith on the field will be enough to change the outcome of the game one way or the other, but it's still one less elite defensive player that Tennessee will have to account for on Saturday in Athens.
