Georgia Bulldogs tight end Oscar Delp almost had a wild highlight earlier this month in UGA’s 44-41 overtime win against the Tennessee Vols.
Delp only caught one pass against the Volunteers, but he was determined to make the most of his lone reception.
The former four-star recruit caught a pass in the second quarter against Tennessee that went for 18 yards. Delp attempted to hurdle Vols defensive back Andre Turrentine at the end of the play. But instead of jumping over Turrentine, Delp kicked the Tennessee safety in the head.

Oscar Delp asked by reporter what he was thinking when he kicked the Tennessee defender in the face
On Tuesday, a reporter asked Delp what his thought process was when he “jumped up and kicked the Tennessee defender in the face”.
“I think the last successful (hurdle) attempt was [against] Ball State, I believe, my sophomore year,” said Delp. “We watch a lot of film, and they were going low on a lot of tight ends. So I was kind of expecting it to happen. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing. But it’ll eventually work.”
“Did it hurt?” asked the reporter in a follow-up question.
“No, not me,” replied Delp with a laugh.
Delp’s accidental kicking of Turrentine led to the humorous press conference exchange. That exchange, however, could lead to Tennessee discussing if they want to alter the way they approach tackling bigger tight ends. The last thing anyone wearing orange and white wants is to get hurdled by a tight end and give up a big chunk of yardage.
