The matchup this weekend between the Vanderbilt Commodores and the Tennessee Vols is going to be the “game of the year”, according to Vandy edge rusher Miles Capers.

I don’t know if that will end up actually being the case, but it should certainly be a fun rivalry game — especially since the Commodores have a legitimate chance to reach the 12-team College Football Playoff with a win over the Volunteers.

Former Georgia star David Pollack predicts final score of Tennessee vs Vanderbilt

Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman David Pollack made his picks for this weekend’s biggest games and he has Tennessee beating Vanderbilt on Saturday in Knoxville.

“Tennessee’s defense is not nearly as good as it was a year ago,” said Pollack on See Ball Get Ball. “Can they get pressure on [Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia]? Can they get him on the ground? It’s not about just getting pressure. Can you get him on the ground?”

“And then on the other side, to me, it’s the same thing,” continued Pollack. “Can [Vanderbilt] stop (Joey) Aguilar and company? Because Vandy’s defense — we’ve talked about it — has been leaking oil for a while. They’re not getting pressure. If you don’t pressure Joey Aguilar, (Chris) Brazzell is going to go deep, and he’s gonna hit him. And they’re gonna make big plays, and they’re gonna run that tempo, and they’re gonna wear you out.”

“Can Vandy go into Neyland Stadium and win? That is a tough ask, man. That’s a tough place to play. It’s gonna be absolutely crazy nuts. It would be something if they could, I think they have the potential to do it. But their defense, I think, kills them. I think this is a 41-38 game or 38-35. Like, this is as high scoring as it gets. And I think Tennessee’s offense makes a big play. Joey Aguilar makes a big play. Tennessee gets the dub (win).”

Tennessee and Vanderbilt will kick off at 3:30 PM ET on Saturday.
