Thanks to the early signing period in December, there's not nearly as much recruiting drama in late January/early February.

Most high profile recruits sign in December, leaving very few to make decisions on the traditional National Signing Day.

But that doesn't mean the drama is totally dead.

Five-star running back Zach Evans is making sure of that.

Evans, the nation's top rated 2020 running back, signed with Georgia during the early signing period, before being released from his NLI in early January.

There's been plenty said about Evans' issues in high school, from not turning in his cell phone before the state championship game, to a mysterious three game suspension that was handled "in-house".

But the dynamic running back is hoping to move past those issues, saying at the Under Armour All-American game earlier this month "I'm a really good kid".

Evans is visiting Knoxville this weekend.

And it's important for Tennessee that the visit goes well. That's because Georgia, despite releasing Evans from his NLI, isn't necessarily out of the picture.

The Bulldogs are reportedly still having communication with Evans.

That's the last thing Tennessee needs. Evans has the potential to be the best running back in the nation when he gets to the collegiate level. He can be a game-changer for any program.

And the Vols certainly don't want to play against him for the next few years.

So just as much as Tennessee is hoping to bolster their roster by adding Evans, they should also be hoping to keep him away from Georgia and other SEC programs.

The Vols have a tremendous amount of momentum right now, so it wouldn't shock me if they land Evans.

Unfortunately for Tennessee (or whoever gets a commitment from Evans this week), nothing will be final in the Texas native's recruitment until he enrolls this summer.

A quirky NCAA rule prevents Evans from signing another NLI with another school (it's unclear if he could sign another one with Georgia).

This will be an interesting situation to monitor over the next four months.
