Former Tennessee Vols baseball coach Tony Vitello is going viral because of his hilarious Tiger Woods quote

San Francisco Giants fans are quickly learning what Tennessee Vols fans have known for years — you never know what Tony Vitello is going to say.

Vitello, who is in his first season as the manager of the Giants after a very successful run at Tennessee, has already dropped a number of headline-inducing quotes during his time in the Bay Area.

Just last week, in fact, Vitello dropped a random Kanye West reference.

“I really don’t feel like there’s been a tightness, like waiting for bad things to happen, or guys yelling at each other,” said Vitello (via Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic). “I just think there’s been an emotional charge of really wanting to do well. If you ask Kanye — I think he’s out with a new album — if you try hard, you die hard. Strange fellow, but he don’t miss much on the music, not that you asked.”

Tony Vitello goes viral for his Tiger Woods quote

Unless you’re living under a rock like an errant tee shot from Jordan Spieth (that actually happened on Friday in San Antonio), you’re likely aware that Tiger Woods was arrested last week for driving under the influence after causing a wreck near his home in Florida.

On Thursday night, following the Giants’ win over the New York Mets, Vitello started to drop an ill-timed Tiger reference before catching himself.

“And then Rafi (Rafael Devers), I mentioned golf, you know, Tiger — oh, I guess, bad timing,” said Vitello as reporters laughed in the background.

You truly never know where a Tony V sentence is going.

Giants fans (and Giants beat reporters) are in for a treat this summer.
