Tennessee Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker appeared on 104.5 The Zone's "Ramon, Kayla, and Will" last week and he explained why one of his UT teammates got "mad" at him this past season.

Hooker said that Vols offensive tackle Darnell Wright gave the Tennessee quarterback a hard time because he felt like Hooker took a sack against Kentucky that would be charged to Wright.

Wright wanted to keep his "sacks given up" count at zero.

"Darnell got mad at me because he thought I gave up a sack and messed up his PFF (Pro Football Focus) grade for the week — against Kentucky," said Hooker. "I was trying to make a play. He was like 'I'm mad at you bro'."

Fortunately for Wright, his PFF grade wasn't impacted by the play.

"They didn't give him that sack," noted Hooker.

Wright appeared on "Ramon, Kayla, and Will" later that morning and host Will Boling asked Wright about the sack that Hooker referenced.

"He must've took that one on the chin, something went down," said a grinning Wright. "But yeah, I was a little upset. But it was all good, it turned out all good."

That fun story just goes to show how close the Vols were as a team this past season. They were able to joke around about things like that with each other because of their close bond.

And that helped translate to success on the field. The chemistry was extremely evident in 2022 — especially on the offensive side of the ball. Tennessee's offense relies heavily on everyone being on the same page. And it was clear all season that UT's players were in lockstep with each other, no matter the situation.
