Earlier this season, the Los Angeles Lakers agreed to send former Tennessee Vols guard Dalton Knecht to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for center Mark Williams.

The deal, however, was rescinded after questions popped up about Williams' longterm health.

Knecht actually reported to the Hornets before getting sent back to the Lakers (Knecht never played in a game with the Hornets).

On Wednesday night, the Lakers were eliminated from the NBA playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games.

Knecht, a player that Lakers head coach JJ Redick said last month was going to help Los Angeles win some playoff games, played zero minutes in the game five. The former Vol played a grand total of four minutes in the series against Minnesota.

After the loss, Williams immediately took to Twitter/X.com to react to the Lakers getting bounced from the playoffs, tweeting a smiley face emoji.

Williams played in 21 games for the Hornets after the rescinded trade. He averaged 28.3 minutes per game in those 21 games.

There's no doubt that Los Angeles could've used Williams in the series against the Timberwolves. They could've used Knecht, too. Redick, however, showed his inexperience as a coach by completely botching his rotation.

Maybe Knecht and Williams can share a laugh about the Lakers' ineptitude.
