The UCLA Bruins fired head football coach DeShaun Foster this past weekend after the program got off to an 0-3 start.

UCLA’s decision to move on from Foster has led to speculation that former Tennessee Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleava could enter the transfer portal in the next 30 days.

UCLA players will have 30 days to enter the transfer portal in the wake of Foster’s firing. Players can also enter the transfer portal during the winter window after the season.

Iamaleava transferred from Tennessee to UCLA near the end of spring practice.

College football insider gives the latest on whether former Vols QB Nico Iamaleava is expected to enter the transfer portal before the end of the season

247Sports’ Matt Zenitz addressed Iamaleava’s status this week on College Football Insiders.

Zenitz said that he does not expect Iamaleava to enter the transfer portal at this point.

“I’m getting questions about whether any high-level players from UCLA will enter the portal. One of the biggest names I’m getting asked about is Nico Iamaleava,” said Zenitz. “At this point — though things could always change — I do not anticipate Nico to redshirt and enter the portal right now.”

It’s unclear how Iamaleava’s NIL deal is structured, but I’m guessing he has to finish the season to earn the full amount he’s owed.

While Iamaleava may end up finishing the season at UCLA, I’d be surprised if he returns to the Bruins in 2026. I believe we’ll see Iamaleava either declare for the 2026 NFL Draft, or find a new home in college football. UCLA is simply in too much disarray as a program right now.

Texas Longhorns redshirt sophomore quarterback Arch Manning entered the 2025 college football season as a player who was viewed as a “can’t miss” talent in his first year as a full-time starter. Manning, however, has struggled a bit to start the season. He went 11-for-25 for 111 yards, an interception, and a touchdown in a […]
