Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton played his last game in Neyland Stadium on Saturday.

And Milton made sure that it was a memorable one.

Milton completed 22-of-33 pass attempts for 383 yards and four touchdowns in Tennessee's 48-24 win against Vanderbilt. He also rushed for two touchdowns.

After the game, Milton told reporters that going out with a "bang" in his final game in Neyland Stadium was important.

“You go out with a bang," said Milton of his final game in Neyland. "Every game you try to do that and the most important one is the last one inside the stadium. You show a team that that’s how we play when we get inside this stadium. That’s the legacy that I am going to hold on to and leave it on to my guy Nico [Iamaleava].”

“I got mine (emotions) out Friday at my throwing session here before we played on Saturday," added Milton. "Walking down the tunnel by myself Friday, I kind of started crying, but my coaches were in front of me so I had to show that I’m tough. But just playing inside this stadium one last time was amazing. I wish the guys that come up after us take it as seriously as us. We left a legacy here that there is only one way we play when we get inside that stadium and that’s hard. There’s only two things you can control and that’s your effort and your attitude, so once you get inside that stadium and you put those jerseys on I hope you have [that].”

It's obvious from Milton's comments that playing in Neyland Stadium meant a lot to him. And that clearly extends to the rest of the team.

Tennessee has only lost five games inside of Neyland Stadium since Josh Heupel took over as the program's head coach. And three of those losses came in 2021 (Heupel's first season).

Performing well in front of the home crowd is something that Tennessee takes very seriously. And Milton wants to make sure that the players that come after him will keep that same energy at home for years to come.
