Just over a month ago, former Tennessee Vols quarterback Josh Dobbs was preparing to serve as Deshaun Watson's primary backup with the Cleveland Browns.

But just hours after receiving the news that he'd be the Browns' primary backup, Dobbs was traded to the Arizona Cardinals for a 2024 fifth-round draft pick (Cleveland also sent a seventh-round pick to Arizona in the deal).

Dobbs is serving as Arizona's starting quarterback while Kyler Murray continues to recover from the torn ACL he suffered last season.

The Cardinals are just 1-3 with Dobbs as their starter, but the former Tennessee quarterback has played extremely well. And he got his first win as an NFL starter last month in a shocking upset of the Dallas Cowboys (a team that's won three games this season by a combined 95 points).

On Sunday, Dobbs will get his chance at another upset as the Cardinals are set to face Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Bengals are also 1-3 this season, but don't let the record fool you. No one expects Cincinnati to continue to hang out in the basement of the AFC North. Their poor start to the season is almost entirely due to the calf injury that Burrow is currently trying to play through (he said on Wednesday that he's feeling the best he's felt all season going into the game against the Cardinals).

Dobbs spoke to reporters on Wednesday and he was asked about facing Burrow and the Bengals.

"The Bengals team, you know, I've been in the AFC North for a while (with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Browns)," said Dobbs. "I'm obviously not on the field when Joe Burrow's on the field. If that happens, we've got bigger fish to fry out there."

"You're obviously aware of the other offense and the firepower that they have and that they've shown over the last several years," added Dobbs. "But we gotta do our job. And we're going against their defense, which is a strong, stout group that can be aggressive [and] try to get you behind the sticks. So it comes down to execution. We gotta go out, and they're going to throw a lot of looks at us on different downs, and we have to have answers and be able to execute and stay ahead of the sticks."

"Obviously, you know, being in Cleveland and then being in Pittsburgh before that, I've seen this group over the last couple of years," continued Dobbs. "I've been impressed with the growth that they've had. They went to the Super Bowl and made a deep playoff run last year. They've played a lot of really good football. And so we'll have to match their intensity this weekend."

Arizona and Cincinnati will face each other on Sunday afternoon at 3:05 PM CT/4:05 PM ET.
