When the Tennessee Vols take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday night Neyland Stadium, they'll be without a key player.
Vols redshirt freshman running back DeSean Bishop has been ruled out for the Mississippi State game according to Tennessee's first injury report of the week.
Bishop, who left Tennessee's win against Kentucky last weekend due to injury, is the primary backup to starting running back Dylan Sampson.
Through eight games this season, Bishop has 372 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.
Bishop walked off the field during the Vols' win against the Wildcats last Saturday night and never returned to the game. The ESPN broadcast never showed a replay of what happened, so it's unclear what kind of injury the running back is dealing with.
True freshman Peyton Lewis replaced Bishop against Kentucky, rushing for 24 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. Lewis will likely be the primary backup to Sampson against Mississippi State with Bishop out.
