A key Tennessee Vols player announced on Wednesday that he's returning for the 2023 season.

Wide receiver Bru McCoy confirmed to reporters during a media session on Wednesday that he's "without a doubt" returning to Tennessee next year.

"Without a doubt, I'll be coming back next year," said McCoy. "As far as the role, just be the best teammate I can be. Continue to grind and work and do what I can to help win games. Ultimately, just set more team goals than I do personal (goals). And just go out there and have success."

McCoy, who transferred from USC to Tennessee last spring, played a key role for the Volunteers in 2022.

The California native finished the season with 48 receptions for 619 yards and three touchdowns. The 619 receiving yards were second on the team (behind Jalin Hyatt's 1,267 receiving yards).

McCoy made some big catches in critical moments for Tennessee this season. His most memorable catch, however, was easily his reception against Alabama that put the Vols in field goal range.

Getting McCoy back next season is critical for the Vols with Hyatt and Cedric Tillman heading to the NFL. His extensive experience in the offense this season will be important for whoever starts at quarterback for UT next season (the assumption is that it will be Joe Milton).

McCoy, Ramel Keyton, and Squirrel White should be Tennessee's three starting wide receivers in 2023.
